Production of the Aston Martin DBX has officially started today. The first Aston Martin SUV has an important role in the illustrious brand, which is to increase sales numbers significantly. Aston Martin says that the DBX should take care of half of the sales numbers. So expectations are high.

The long game

Aston Martin has been developing the DBX since 2015. In the meantime, models like the Urus , Bentayga and even the Cullinan have proven that SUVs drive sales. However, Aston Martin has taken the time to get everything perfect for the new model. After all, the first concept dates back to 2009, when they made their first attempt with the Lagonda. The design was about as controversial as the first Lagonda and so the search continued. In 2015 came the DBX concept, a coupé SUV with many styling elements of the V8 Vantage and the later introduced DB11. This model was popular, but it was too impractical to sell well and so we looked further. The DBX combines the best features of the two concepts and turns it into a beautifully lined practical SUV.

The DBX on the production line

The DBX has now passed all its tests, which included a demonstration run during the Goodwood Festival of Speed. A new production line was finalized in December. Based in Wales, the factory is specifically designed to produce the DBX with a maximum number of 4,000 models per year. Aston Martin says they have now received more than 2,000 orders from the SUV. With a 4.0 liter V8 producing 542 hp, the DBX goes from 0 to 100 in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 290 km / h. The first copy was rolled off the production line today in the classic combination of Stirling Green with a brown leather interior.
